.j
Mr. Allen Sorenson
Boettcher Mine Acreage Release Request
August'23, 2005
for the site, approved by the Office, and a reclamation plan was formulated. As stated in
Exhibit E of the Reclamation Permit Application, the final reclamation plan for this portion of
the site was to return the disturbed ground to pastureland and the reclaimed grade of the property
to slopes suitable for pastureland. However, most of the property included in this release request
was not disturbed by mining activities and current grades and vegetation exist in their natural
state. For the 15 acres where mining and reclamation has occurred, backfilling of the mined pit
and grading and revegetation activities were consistent with Exhibit E.
As listed below, reclamation of the 15 acres has complied with additional subsections of the
Reclamation Performance Standards.
3.1.5 Materials Handling
To meet requirements, the following activities were performed.
• Grading created a final topography .appropriate for the permitted final land use,
pastureland.
• Backfilling was performed with adequate compaction for stability. No structures aze
planned for the site, so compaction testing was not necessary.
• No mining highwalls were left on the site and all slopes were graded to control potential
erosion and siltation.
• Grading of all slopes was done as soon as practicable following mining.
• No refuse, acid-forming, or toxic producing materials were mined or produced on the
site.
• No drill or auger holes were left from the mining operations and no edits or shafts were
created.
• No significant slopes were left on the site. Slopes are consistent with the pre-existing
topography and appropriate for use as pastureland.
• The reclamation choice for pastureland may require that the azea be plowed, planted and
mowed. The area is graded so farm machinery can traverse the azea when needed.
• Structural fill was not used to backfill the excavated pit.
• Material that could potentially cause unauthorized releases of pollutants to the surface
drainage system was not mined or disposed of within the affected area.
• No unauthorized release of pollutants to groundwater occurred from materials mined or
handled within the permit area.
All backfilling and grading was done as soon as practicable following mining. Final grading was
finished and revegetation of the site was performed as mining operations at the site were being
completed prior to 2000.
3.1.6 Water -General Requirements
Disturbances to the prevailing hydrologic balance of the affected land and surrounding azea were
minimized.
The operator has complied with applicable Colorado water laws and regulations
governing injury to existing water rights.
_.
__ _
