Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has submitted a complete <br />application for a technical revision to the Division of Minerals and Geology for its approved Bowie <br />No. 2 Mine, mining permit No. C-96-083. The proposed revision provides for the installation of <br />fifteen gob vent boreholes and the associated construction of light use roads and drill sites. This <br />revision also incorporates new, upgraded and refurbished light use roads and drill sites into the <br />permit that were disturbed under approved exploration drilling permits. The fifteen gob vent <br />borehole drill sites and associated light use roads are located on surtace owned by Bowie <br />Resources Limited and the Bureau of Land Management (BLM). Right of entry on the BLM <br />managed land is authorized by Federal Coal Lease COC-61209. The light use road construction <br />will disturb approximately 11.7 acres. The fifteen drill sites will disturb approximately 3.6 acres <br />for a total disturbance of 15.3 acres. Of this amount, 2.8 acres were previously disturbed under <br />approved exploration drilling permits. These light use roads and drill sites are encompassed by <br />the permit boundary and will be utilized to access gob vent boreholes and hydrologic monitoring <br />stations. <br />All of the mine facilities except a pump station and sediment pond are located north of old State <br />Highway 133 near the town of Bowie, CO. The Flre Mountain Canal is located south of the mine <br />facilities. The railroad and the North Fork of the Gunnison River are also located south of the <br />mine facilities. The mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie <br />Quadrangle map within the following sections. <br />Township 13 South.
