Long
Drv~swn Duector
Note: 1. Sorry for the late turnaround -- I forgot.
2. Given the rambling nature of the meeting, and given my lousy
notes, this summary is marginal at best.
Primarv Topic:
P&M submittal requesting declassification of a portion of the
Oak Creek AVF.
Presentation
Shawn presented a general discussion describing the P&M submittal.
Environmental factors were discussed including local hydrologic and
geologic regime, vegetation characteristics, land use and condition,
and previous permitting status.
It was indicated that the area in question was designated an AVF via
the original 1981 permit process, and now the operator requests that
this classification be removed. Apparently the operator is relying on
federal guidelines to make their case.
Some Meeting Member Recommendations:
1. Declassification may be acceptable, if all demonstrations are
provided.
2. We can use federal guidelines if they provide assistance, but
regardless, the state regulations must be used for the
evaluation.
3. While interesting, ultimate motivation for move is not relevant.
4. Additional information will be requested, probably including:
a. More detailed land use/condition mapping;
b. More detailed vegetation mapping;
c. More detailed soils information;
d. More detailed groundwater information (water table data).
/ern
M:\oss\ern\htfmtg.wp
