Intermediate wheatgrass (Relative <br />Cover = 8.3%), Western yarrow (Relative Cover = 3.1%), Rocky Mountain <br />penstemon (Relative Cover = 2.1%), and Green needlegrass (Relative <br />Cover = 2.1%) were relatively minor components of the plant community. <br />However, it is encouraging to note that, even though they are minor plant <br />community components, the native fortis Western yarrow and Rocky Mountain <br />penstemon are present in the plant community. <br />Woody plants found in the five (5) belt transects sampled were the shrub <br />Big Sagebrush and the sub-shrub Winterfat. Our sampling indicates that shrubs <br />are averaging 400 plants per hectare or 162 plants per acre over the entire <br />1984 seeded reclaimed area. It should be noted that woody plant density <br />standards are presently being discussed with the Colorado Division of Wildlife <br />so the woody plant density information is for your use only. <br />ern <br />4483E <br />
