Long Dwision Dire<1or The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Pazagraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, chat on August 14, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered complete for the purposes of fding. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. Approval of this revision will permit the construction of a unit train loadout south of the present mitring operation and allow for an increase in the annual coal production from 5 million tons per year to 6 million tons per yeaz. The proposed train loadout construction will include a conveyor belt system to transport coal from the present coal stockpile, over Old Highway 133, to a batch weigh loading system located above the railroad tracks. Also, there will be 11,855 feet of new railroad track constmction associated with the train loadout. Sediment control will consist of one sedimentation pond and several areas protected by berms, silt fence and straw bales. The design capacity of the proposed sedimentation pond is 2.41 acre-feet. The permit azea will increase by 94 acres of private land, 32 acres of which will be disturbed acreage. The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 [Hiles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit azea is further described as follows: Portions of Sections 2, 3.4, 9, 10, 11, 14, I5, and ]6, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. Portions of Sections 33 and 34, Township 12 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. The above-mentioned tracts of land aze shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. A copy of the revision application is available for public inspection at the Paonia Public Library, 140 Grand Avenue, Paonia, CO 81428, and at the Division office.
