The
following is my response to each of your questions regarding our application for
technical revision.
1. An original technical revision packet was not sent to Denver with the check for
$188.~~. It was our intent to place the check in with your application. However, our
Finance Department inadvertently forwarded the check to the Denver address.
2. Material that will be hauled into the pit will come from both county and private jobs.
3. The County will not allow asphalt chunks to be used for backfill if it is less than b0
days old.
4. No amount of contaminated material will be used for backfill. If a private contractor
makes a request to dump material that contains hydrocarbon contamination, it will
be refused. If San Miguel County for some reason has a small amount of
contaminated material, it will be rendered inert per your recommendation before
being used as backfill.
5. Any private contractor who wishes to dispose of material must first_get permission
from the Sari Miguel County Road Department. No uncontrolled dumping will be
allowed, therefore, the type and amount of material will be closely monitored by the
County to prevent any landfill type material from being dumped. Our intent is to
allow only clean dirt, rocks, or asphalt chunks to be used for backfill.
6. Any material that is determined to be suitable for use as topsoil will be stockpiled
separately and revegetated to prevent erosion. If the soil is contaminated with
noxious weeds it will be rejected. San Miguel County has an active weed control
program so if the stockpiled material does contain a few weeds, they will be
controlled as necessary.
7. Backflling will continue until the 5:1 slope is attained but if additional backfill
material is available, the County may flatten the slope as long as your office does
not object.
P.
