I have subsequently
learned from other staff members, to my considerable dismay, that
my estimate of the offsite disposal cost was significantly higher
than it needed to be. I can assume that it must also have eared
as that to you.
As a result of a subsequent recalculation of the cost estimate for
reclaiming the Mesita Hill site, using the proposed "compromise
cost" for demolition of the concrete floors, pads and structures
and a more realistic disposal cost of $4,713, I do not now believe
that the Mesita Hill is demonstrably underbonded. The notice of
insufficency sent to you on June 16, 1997 is withdrawn.
If you have any questions on the above, please contact me.
Sincerely,
James C. Stevens
Sr. Specialist
97N062
