Long Division Director The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, of [he Colorado Revised Statutes, [hat on March 19, 2001, an application to revise coal mining operations a[ the Bowie No. 2 Mine was considered complete for [he purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Bowie Resources Limited. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. Technical Revision No. 19 provides for [he addition of the Bowie No. 1 Train Loadout and Stockpile Area, including the associated reclamation liability, into the Bowie No. 2 Mine Pemut. Under a separate revision, Technical Revision No. 35, the train loadout and stockpile area, and the associated reclamation liability, would be removed from the Bowie No. 1 Mine Permit. No other changes would occur with this revision. The Underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 5 miles Northeast of Paonia, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: Portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, 9, ]0, 11, 14, 15, and 16, Township 13 South, Range 91 West of the 6th P.M. The loadout is located in Sections 29, 30, 31 and 32 of Township 13 South, Range 91 West. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Bowie. Because the above referenced technical revision application would incorporate additional lands into the permit area or might otherwise alter previously approved permit conditions or mitigation measures, we are requesting your agency's evaluation of the proposal. Your comments and concerns relating to the adequacy of fish and wildlife resources information, the fish and wildlife plan, and the reclamation plan as it relates [o fish and wildlife considerations, including potential impacts to threatened or endangered species, are requested. if wildlife habitat is the proposed postmining land use, we request your evaluation of proposed woody plant stocking levels, planting arrangements, and methods for mitigation of potential adverse impacts. Please advise us if you require additional information. The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete.
