Mehls <br />Project Historian <br />Western Historical Studies, Inc. <br />1225 Atlantis Avenue <br />Lafayette, Colorado 80026 <br />Re: Dowe Flats - Cultural Resource Evaluation <br />Dear Mr. Mehls: <br />This office has reviewed your correspondence of November 21, 1994 <br />concerning the eligibility of the cultural resources at the Dowe Flats <br />mining site. <br />We concur that the following sites are eligible to the National Register <br />for their ability to yield information on the prehistory and History of the <br />region. <br />SBL2431 SBL4144 SBL4146 58L4198 SBL4196 <br />We find that the following sites need to be tested to determine their <br />subsurface composition before a determination of eligibility can be made. <br />SBL3129 SBL4147 SBL4151 SBL4192 SBL4193 SBL4199 SBL4145 <br />The following sites are not eligible to the National Register of Historic <br />Places since they will yield no further information important to prehistory <br />or history. <br />SBL4148 SBL4149 SBL4150 SBL4152 SBL4191 SBL4200 SBL4194 <br />SBL4195 SBL4197 <br />Since no significant cultural resources are located within the areas to be <br />mined, we concur with the no effect determination. <br />We find that there will be no adverse effect to the ditches, SBL3110, <br />SBL3113, SBL3114 and SBL3115, and we support the county's recordation <br />measures. <br />
