Box 944 <br />Norwood, CO 81423 <br />RE: INFORMAL CONFERENCE -United Companies of Mesa County <br />United/Norwood Pit -Amendment No. 1 -File No. M-88-037 <br />Dear Ms. Altshuler: <br />~~~~~~ <br />DEPARTMENT OF <br />NATURAL <br />RESOURCES <br />Roy Romer <br />Governor <br />lames 5. lochhead <br />Eaecouve Dueaor <br />Michael0 Long <br />Divivon Direcbr <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology has received several timely objections to approval <br />of Uni[ed Companies' application to amend the United/Norwood Gravel Pit permit by <br />adding 83.33 acres to the already permitted area. <br />Since objections have been received, a final decision on the application will be made by the <br />Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Board at a formal public hearing tentatively scheduled <br />for the Board's September 25-26, 1996 Meeting. That Meeting will be held in Leadville, <br />Colorado. You will be notified of the meeting date, and the place will be confirmed when <br />the Board's Agenda has been completed. <br />The Hearing process will start with an Informal Conference to be held at the Norwood <br />Community Center at 1670 Naturita Street, Norwood, Colorado, beginning at 10:00 a.m. <br />on August 14, 1996. The Division Director's representative will conduct the conference. <br />The purpose of the Informal Conference will be to: <br />• Identify all parties to the Formal Board Hearing; <br />• Determine what issues have been resolved; <br />• Determine if there are any additional issues; and <br />• Provide explanations and answers to any questions concerning the amendment <br />application and formal Board Hearing processes. <br />
