This is also combined with provision of vegetated soil cover over the 9700 level waste
dump.
The Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) has performed a brief review of the proposed
installations, and we find the designs presented to be well thought out and designed. The installation
of the culvert and diversion should prevent water from coming in contact with waste dump materials
and the vegetated soil cover should serve to reduce the amount of oxidation of mineralized rock in
the dumps. This approach should serve to reduce these concentrations in the water exiting Windy
Gulch.
