Post-Mining Land Use Change
Dear Sir or Madam:
The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116,
Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 16, 1997, an application to revise coal mining
operations at the Golden Eagle Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was
submitted by Basin Resources, Inc.. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and [he Regulations
initiate from this date of filing.
The applicant proposes [o change the post-mining land use [o Industrial for limited areas where wells, boreholes,
and ventilation shafts have penetrated the sealed mine workings. This will allow methane gas production [o be
developed by the owner of the natural gas estate.
The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 25 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado.
The mine permit azea is located in all or portions of Sections 15-22, and Sections 27-34 of T33S, R67W and
Sections 3 and 4 of T34S, R67W. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute
Quadrangle map of Vigil.
A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County
Courthouse, 200 E. First St., Rm 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and at the Division office. For additional
information or to provide written comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215,

frames, we request [hat comments be submitted within fifteen (IS) days of this letter. If no comments are
received by then, we will proceed on the assumption that you have no concerns with or objections to the
applicant's proposal.
