CO 81505 <br />RE: Carbon Junction Mine (Permit No. C-92-080) <br />Permit Renewal Application No. 1 <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 1 I8, <br />Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised S[atu[es, that on February 4, 1998, an application to renew an existing permit [o <br />conduct coal mining operations at the Carbon Junction Mine was considered complete for [he purposes of filing. All <br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to continue surface coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately <br />2 miles southeast of Durango. The permit area is further described as follows: <br />Portions of Section 33, T34 1/2N, R9W; Portions of Section 33, T35N, R9W; Portions of Section 4, T34N, R9W. <br />The above-mentioned uacLS of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Durango East and Loma Linda. <br />This is an application to renew a valid mining permit. No changes in the mining plan have been requested. No <br />additional land disturbance is proposed. <br />In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted to the Division of <br />Minerals and Geology at the above address by April 5, 1998. If no comments are received by this dale, we will proceed <br />on the assumption [hat your agency has no concerns with or objections to the applicant's proposal. <br />A copy of the renewal application is available for public inspection at the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 E Second <br />Ave, Durango, CO 81301, and at the Division office.
