The maps are basically like the ones provided in the
permit application except that the individual trees, masses of tree;.,
and masses of shrub areas are indicated as well as the waterline route.
This route was selected in conjunction with a tour of the site with Jim
Mayerl of the Colorado Springs Planning Department. The route was
flagged, extensively photographed, and precisely defined so as to
eliminate the possibility of removing large numbers of trees. In fsict,
it appears that only about a dozen trees will need to be removed within
the 12 to 16 foot wide path. In some areas, the path will be limited to
only about 5 or 6 feet to avoid the removal any certain large trees.
Only about 3 large trees will need to be cut down to install the
pipeline, and all of those are in poor condition.
We feel this route is an excellent one and will result in the least
amount of disturbance to the vegetation and provide excellent screening
from all locations except the view from the top of Pikes Peak, 7000 feet
above and many miles to the southwest. Of course from that distance, a
12 to 16 foot wide path in the trees will not be visible except in a
powerful telescope.
Respectfully,
~~~~ Q~~~
Mark A.
