TRAPPER MINING INC.
May 1, 2003
Ms. Janet Binns
RECEIVED
MAY 0 5 2003
Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology
1313 Sherman St., Room 215 Uivisian of ivllnerals and Geology
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Janet:
Subject: Trapper Mine (Permit No. C-S1-010), Technical Revision TR-91
2002 Annual Report, Appendix W
Please accept this letter and the accompanying revised pages as Trapper's response to your comments to the above-
referenceddocument. The following annual report pages have been revised in response to your comments:
Section L0 text pages (2) and Table L I.
Section 1.0 text pages and Table 1.1 were revised in response to the Division's comments 1 and 2 in your letter of
Apri125, 2003. The acreage given as backfilled, graded, topsoiled and seeded in these documents was revised
from 50.9 acres to 44.5 acres, This reflects the 16.0 and 28.5 acres reclaimed in Derringer and Flintlock pits,
respectively, during 2002. The 16.0 acres reported for Derringer Pit now matches the acreage given in Map 1
(reclamation map). Even though we revised the acreage in Derringer Pit for 2002 final reclamation from 22.4 to
16.0 acres, the total revegetated acreage given in Section 1.2.6 (2,999.3 acres) remains the same. This is because
several minor adjustments were made to parcel acreages as a result of SL-4 final bond release changes. Thus, the
2,999.3 acres figure (plus 342 acres completed outside topsoil stripping Limits) is accurate for the overall
permanent reclamation completed to date.
In response to the Division's comment 3 from the Apri123, 2003 letter, the proposed topsoil pile in question was
intended as only an approximate location. I reviewed [he proposed topsoil pile location on Map 3 in relation to
Map M-9 (haulroad map) of the proposed PROS application. A portion of the proposed topsoil stockpile is located
within a small section of the 200-foot corridor of an existing haulroad and touches a portion of a proposed ramp.
However, engineering personnel informed me that they were aware that the topsoil pile location would need to be
adjusted very slightly to the south to avoid any conflicts with the current haulroad and proposed ramp. Thus, as we
discussed by phone yesterday, it will not be necessary to revise Map 3 to show a more suitable topsoil stockpile
location.
If you have any further questions or concerns, please contact me.
Sincerely,
Forrest Luke
Environmental Manager
FMSfim
M: ~ANNIIALRPTDMG02RPl V tsponu I D DC
En<bsurc
c: File 10911.0, wlo me
SMfamdcr w/erc
P.O.
