Lochhead
Executive Director
Michael B. Long
Division DveUOr
Re: Valley Vista Pit, Permit No. M-81-229, Amendment AM-1, Bond Increase Associated
with Reclamation Costs of Additional Road Corridor.
Dear Mr. Parkerson,
As I mentioned in my last letter to you, dated 12/30/97, the additional land area involved with this
amendment, a portion of which must be reclaimed, requires additional bond to be posted. I was
expecting the additional amount to be approximately $3500.00, but detailed calculations show the
increase to be smaller.
As you will see in the attached packet of cost forms, the additional land area to be covered in this
increase is 1.51 acres, which is less than the total 3.46 acres of the amendment. This is explained
by the following facts: not all of the acreage in the road corridor will be reclaimed, some will
remain paved; and 1.03 acres of abandoned road corridor is already covered by the existing bond,
and it is not to be bonded twice.
In the attached packet of reclamation cost forms are figures which partly repeat the unit costs
recently. derived for the rest of the permit area, but based on the new area only, and others which
are not contained in previous recalculations. The "new" task numbers match the existing ones,
but denote the additional road area with a "Rd" after the task number.
The total increase in bond associated with this amendment is estimated to be $3,095. Please
review the figures, and if there are questions about my unit costs or acreages upon which this is
based, please contact me.
The bond increase maybe submitted as a $3,095 rider to the existing corporate surety, or a
completely new bond in the amount of $53,127. If you need any forms for the increased financial
warranty, you may contact me at the address or phone below, or contact the Denver office (see
letterhead) directly. My office is:
