plan for establishment of shoreline vegetation including seed mix and costs for establishment. In
the event that the anticipated volunteer growth is not realized by the 2"d or 3`d growing season
following grading, tospoiling, and filling the reservoirs with water, the applicant should be
prepared to implement the alternate revegetation plan. In accordance with Rule 6.4.5(2)(fj(ii),
please provide an alternate plan for establishment of shoreline vegetation.
8. The applicant states on page I 1 that alI surface areas disturbed by mining activities will be
tospoiled and drill-seeded for final reclamation with the seed mix shown on Table E-1 (page 12).
The seed mix provided includes three (3) wheatgrasses and yellow sweetclover. Although not
specifically required, the Division recommends the applicant consider use of the reclamation
seed mix listed below to enhance the chance of revegetation success for a diverse and long-
lasting vegetative cover.
STAGECOACH PIT - REVEGETATION SEED MIX
SpeeiCS % of Mix Seed Rate

Western Wheatgrass 25 3.5
Prairie Sandreed 20 1.5
Sand Dropseed 20 2.0
Needle & Thread Grass 15 2.0
Little Bluestem 10 1.5
Pubescent Wheatgrass 10 1.5
or Slender Wheatgass
Regreen 1.0
Blue Flax 0.5
Yellow sweetclover 0.5
Total ....................... .... 100% 15.Olbs./Acre
* lbs/Acre P.L.S. for drill seeding, double rate for broadcast seeding
9. The applicant states on page 11 that approximately 12 inches of topsoil will be placed on all
disturbed aeeas around the reservoirs. Since there will be an oversupply of topsoil obtained from
the affected areas of the mining permit (as stated on page 10), the Division recommends that the
applicant replace at least 18 inches and preferrably 24 inches of topsoil on areas to be revegetated
to optimize the chance for revegetation success. Please consider and and clarify the disturbed
acreage to be topsoiled as well as the volume of topsoil to remain on site for use in final
reclamation. This information is being requested in conformance with Rule 6.4.5(2)(f){v).
Please respond.
