EXHIBI~, Mamie and Felix Mundell TrusTPit #32
Reclamation Plan
Vegetation Base Line Data:
The grass is a mixture of Buffalo and Blue Grama. Seed recommendation is: Sideoats, Blue
Grama, Westem Wheat
Reclamation Plan:
Erosion control during and after mining: Depending on the specific site of the pit, a diversion
dike may be needed on the upper side to convey surface storm runoff from a large block of
loamy/sandy soils above the pit to a safe disposal site. Where it is possible the A and B horizons
of the soil profile will be removed and stockpiled separately by horizon for replacement in the
borrow area in the natural sequence when mining operations cease. These stockpiles will be
revegetated to protect the area from both wind and water erosion during the mining operations.
Seed mix and operations listed in the revegetation portion of this plan will be followed.
As mining is completed the side slopes will be flatter then 3: I. Slopes of 4:1 or flatter are much
more desirable for greater success in re-establishment of vegetation and operation of equipment.
Length of slope will be properly controlled to prevent erosion. Topsoil will be applied after
shaping and tilled to a depth of 6 inches, binding topsoil to existing soil.
Seed:
Species
Blue Grama
Sideoasts
Westem Wheatgrass
Fertilization requirements:
of Mix lbs. PLS/AC (Drill seeded)
40% 1.2
25% 2.25
25% 4.0
(Double rate for broadcast seeding)
Fertilization of not less than 40# nitrogen and 40# phosphorous will be applied unless a soil
analysis indicates sufficient amounts of these elements. Application will be immediate prior to
or at the time of seeding.
