May 23, 2000- Mobilized to site. Mine safety conducted. Set up equipment. Drilling
initiated for Low slump grout plug at 300 + 30 as measured from the tower.
May 24, 2000- Two holes drilled with LM 100 drill to 44 & 45 feet on assumed center
line in an attempt to intercept decant line. Mike Ley produced new information which
indicated that pipe could be as deep as 75'. Denver Grouting / HB contacted &
contracted Auger Drilling to locate pipe.
May 25-26, 2000- Auger Drilling drills 6 holes (#'s 3-8) away from assumed center line
in an attempt to intercept decant. 4 Holes were drilled to the east, 2 holes were drilled to
the west. No sign of gravel or pipe.
May 30, 2000 -Hole # 9 drilled back on assumed center line to 100' to no avail.
Hole # 10 (Grout hole # I) was attempted 5.5 feet to the North at approximate station
300 + 24. Resistance /Obstruction was encountered at 72'. DG utilized LM 100 drill &
hammer to intercept pipe & to install casing. Air was injected & communicated to the
riser tower verifying interception of pipe.
May 30, 2000- (Continued) Hole #11 (Grout hole # 2) was attempted on assumed center
line at 23.5 feet towards the tower at approximate station 300 + 0. Pipe encountered & .
hammer drilled. Hole was air tested & communicated to the riser tower, verifying
interception of decant.
May 31, 2000- Casing installed in Hole # 11 (Grout hole # 2) to approximately 72'.
Hole # 12 was located approximately 67' towards the tower at approximate station 200 +
30. This hole grazed the edge of the pipe.
Hole # 13 (Grout hole # 3) was drilled 16 inches to the West of hole #12. Center line of
pipe encountered. Hammer drilled & air tested. Confirmation made at riser tower.
May 31, 2000 - (Continued) Low mobility grout plug installed in Grout Hole # 1.
Slump of material averaged I.5 inches. Pressures recorded at the injection header ranged
from an initial pressure of 100 psi to 600 psi. 8 yards of low mobility grout placed.
Water at the tower was displaced during grouting operations. Flows at the tower were
reduced from an original 10 to l5 gallons of overflow a minute prior to grouting, to
nothing.
June 1, 2000- Slurry grouting operations initiated in Grout hole # 2. Immediate
displacement of water was recorded at the riser tower. Grouting of hole # 2 continued
until grout was detected at Grout hole # 3. Injection was then moved to hole # 3 and
continued until grout was detected at the riser. Calculated quantities were exceeded
indicating that grout apparently was flowing past the riser into the upper decant line.
Approximately 60+ yards of slurry were injected.
