Pendleton
Colorado Mined Land Reclamation Division
1313 Sherman St.
215 Centennial Building
Denver, CO 80203
Dear Dr. Pendleton:
In response to comments on Technical Revision ,007 from David
E. Hyatt, as outlined in his letter to Dr. James A. Plendleton
on June 9, 1992, comments are discussed in the order presented
in the letter.
Documents submitted to MLRD reflecting tests performed by oK- W`
Degussa on samples from the San Luis facility clearly "^•' "'"t
demonstrated that very low levels of total cyanide can be `~"`~"D"'
achieved with the proposed hydrogen peroxide process. 4'4 (`°`~
Comanent ~2
Use of CYTOX in combination with peroxide will produce cyanide 21{y;b~}
complexes of iron, zinc and copper, which are insoluble in the z -~ ~ttd.
present and future environment of the tailings facility. It is ate.. ~~
anticipated that the use of this combination of reagents will
provide better results than either used alone.
Comm er~t ±~3
BMG has been advised by both Degussa and FMC based mn prior N,_f
similar successful applications, that maintaining the pond in
an active status will improve distribution of the #equired htil~
reagents, and this enhances the efficiency of the cyanide
removal process.
Comment ;#4
The peroxide distribution system has been specified by Degussa ~;.
based on substantial prior experience in pond applications. As
previously stated, an active pond provides a substantially ,~~ ~u•'
better mixing environment. „ ~ ~~,
Ste, y
SG7U GREESwppD FLA/.4 bLV U.
