JamesAPendleton@MIN@DNRML
gym: ChristineEJohnston@COAL@DNRML
bject: West Elk Mine; TR#69
ite: Thursday, June 9, 1994 8:25:02 MDT
ttach:
:ertify: Y
Forwarded by:
In addtion to your review of the stability report submitted with West Elk's
TR#69, which proposes a new ventilation fan in Lone Pine Gulch, would you
look at their cut and fill balance in comparison to the amount that will be
backfilled during reclamation. They are excavating 26,200 cubic yards but
only using 16,600 cubic yards for the bench. At reclamation they are only
backfilling 7300 cubic yards. I assume they are backfilling less than half
of the amount of material in the fill for stability reasons. Do you agree
that this is the case? What about AOC? I am planning to ask for a post-
mining topography map for this area, so that may help.
