rates, tracer(s), and testing pazameters. The possible placement of additional sampling
wells within the Pink Gneiss Pit will be determined as part of Task 1.
Task 2: System Construction:
During Task 2 the rn srtu test will begin. SMI will be on site ~~ to oversee and provide
QA/QC for the construction of the system components. Contractors will be used to install
the monitoring wells.
Task 3: Monitorine:
Monitoring of the performance of the system will continue for the duration of the testing.
Water quality tests will include the major components and will be made biweekly. Full-
suite analyses will also be obtained on a montlily, or less frequent, basis. Microbial tests to
monitor the activity and abundance of particular groups of bacteria will also be performed.
Task 4: Data Analvsis and Reporting:
. The system will be continuously maintained to evaluate the need for operational adjustment.
This management function will involve monthly project updates to be communicated to
BMRI. After Tasks 1 through 3 aze completed, a summary report will be issued.
2.2 Task Details
Task 1:
At the end of Task 1, the design of the system component will be complete. Calculations will be
performed to determine the specifics of the in situ treatment, such as the quantity of organic
carbon and the amount of additional water to be added after organic cazbon..An appropriate
conservative tracer, such as chloride or bromide, will be chosen in this task.
Task 2:
Task 2 will include injection of a soluble organic carbon source followed by an additional
amount of water (so-called "chaser solution") from the West Pit to push the nutrients out into the
•
Battle Moantaln Resources Shepherd Mil/er, /nc
Ilgratitelpdr/ve110026Treportsldmglattachmenthdoc 6 lane 8, /999
