November 2005 Hayden Gulch Mine * Final Bond Release Application Page 8
relative percent cover value of 73.6; the introduced perennial grass relative percent
value for the permit area was 68.1 percent. Native perennia[ grasses were the
second most common life form for the HG-8 and Slump Area parcels, Shrubs were
the second most common life form for Parcel E and Parcel 003, while introduced
perennial forbs were the second most abundant life form for the reference azea.
TABLE 3
SPECIES DENSITY DATA
Parcel 2004 Species Density
s ecies/100 s uare meter 2005 Species Density
s ecies/100 s uare meter
Reference Area 15.3 14.2
E 14.6 14.2
HG-8 19.6 16.8
003 18.8 17.2
Slum Area 23.0 17.0
As shown on Figure 1, 2004 Woody Plant Density Data, the overall average woody
plant density of the three shrub enclosures (2,751 stems per acre) exceeded the
performance standard of 750 stems per acre.
Table 4, Sample Adequacy for Cover Samples, summazizes the sample adequacy
requirements for each sampling unit using the standard sample adequacy formula
presented in the Bond Release Guideline. The table shows that ffie sample size (n)
far the reference area in 2004 was 1Q which both meets the sample adequacy
requirement and the CDMG's requested minimum sample size of five. The table
shows that the combined permit area sample is greater than the sample adequacy
requirement. Furthermore, the calculations show that even with small sample sizes
for the individual pazce] units (sample size [n) values varied between three and
five), the sampling met the minimum sample size requirement (nm;o) for the
individual sampling units in 2004.
TABLE 4
SAMPLE ADE IIACY FOR COVER SAMPLES

Area
Year Sample Size
(n) Mean
~*~o)r Standard
Deviation
n-1 Minimum
Sample Size
nmin
Reference 2004 10 52.6 6.77 4
2005 10 47.8 10.53 10
Combined 2004 18 53.9 +1-2.5 8.21 5
Permit Area 2005 18 56.8 +/-2.1 6.87 3
E 2004 5 57.8 3.83 2
2005 5 60.8 7.19 4
HG-8 2004 5 51.6 6.19 4
2005 5 57.4 8.50 6
003 2004 5 59.4 7.99 5
2005 5 55.4 4.34 2
Slump 2004 3 42.0 0.0 1
2005 3 51.7 5.51 5
Notes: 1) Percent total vegetation cover (first hi[)
2) Calculated using the standard sample adequacy formula in the Bond Release Guideline
3) Confidence interval value at 90 ercent confidence
