iii iiiiiiiiniiiiii <br />999 <br />PUBLIC NOTICE <br />Kerr Coal Company (Kerr), 1200 17th Street, Suite 2500, Denver, Colorado 80202, has filed an <br />application for revision of approved mining and reclamation plans for the Kerr Mine. The <br />approved Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology (DMG) permit, Permit No. C-80-006, <br />addresses existing surface coal mining and related surface operations and reclamation activities. <br />The proposed revision, addresses modification of final backfilling and grading plans. <br />Areas to be effected by the proposed plan revision are located in Jackson County. The Kerr Mine <br />area is located approximately ten miles east of Walden, Colorado, on County Road 12. The mine <br />area is bounded on the east by the Canadian River which is approximately 2.5 miles away and on <br />the west by the Michigan River, approximately 5.0 miles away. Sudduth Draw and Bolton Draw <br />border the mine area on the north and south respectively. The Kerr loadout area is located on the <br />south edge of Walden, Colorado. The loadout area is bounded on the north by [he Louisiana- <br />Pacific Lumber Mill and on the southwest by the Illinois River. <br />The Kerr Mine area is located in the following sections: <br />Township 8N. Ranee 78W <br />Section 2 <br />Township 9N. Ranee 78W <br />Sections 15, 22, 23, 25, 26, 27, and 35 <br />The Southfield Loadout Area is located in the following sections: <br />Township SN. Ranee 79W <br />Sections 28 and 29 <br />These sections are covered by the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Johnny Moore Mountain <br />and Gould NW (Mine Area) and Walden and Eagle Hill (Loadout Area) quadrangles. <br />The following hold surface and/or mineral interests within [he effected area: <br />U.S. Department of interior -Bureau of Land Management <br />Stale of Colorado -Board of Land Commissioners <br />Kerrco Ltd. <br />Complete copies of the Kerr Permit Application document including proposed revisions are on file <br />and available for public inspection in both the Clerk and Recorders Office in the Jackson County <br />Coutthouse, Walden, Colorado, and the DMG Offices located at the following address: <br />Colorado Division of Minerals and Geology <br />1313 Sherman S[reet, Room 2I5 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br />Phone: (303)866-3567 <br />Comments or objections concerning the application for permit revision should be directed to the <br />DMC at the above address not later than 60 days after the date of publication in order to be <br />considered. <br />
