Eastside does not need a minor
revision to temporarily store coal waste as it has already received approval.
The temporary waste coal disposal area presently contains approximately 700
cubic yards of material and is approximately 24 feet in depth. The proposed
maximum volume is approximately 1500 cubic yards. The temporary waste
pile would remain at 24 feet in depth and 40 feet in length and would
increase the width to a maximum of 40 feet. The waste material will be
compacted with the 966 Cat front end loader as each layer is put in place.
The temporary coal waste disposal pile does not contain usable material.
During the cleaning around processing equipment, small amounts of overburden
material contaminate the coal. In order to maintain the coal quality,
this mixture must be disposed. Occasionally rock spars occur in the coal
beds. When the rock spar areas are mined, the coal is contaminated with
rock. This material must also be disposed.
Sin~~~~cere>>ly,~p_
o~4uca4u Ousrcf~K..
Linda Limbach
Secretary
