Cottony <br /> Division Director <br /> Natural Resource Trustee <br />Re: Seneca II Mine (Permit No. C-1980-005) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 36 (TR-36) <br />Updates to Postmine Channel Designs and the Hydrologic Monitoring Plan <br />Dear Sir or Madam: <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph 4, <br />of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on June 17, 2004, an application to revise coal mining operations at the Seneca II Mine <br />was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Seneca Coal Company. All review and <br />comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This application addresses changes/updates to select postmine channel designs, the hydrologic monitoring plan, and the <br />Petroleum Contaminated Material Stockpile location. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles Southeast of Hayden. The permit area is further <br />described as follows: <br />TSN, R87 W; All of Sections 1, 2 and 12; Portions of Sections 3, 11 and 13 <br />T6N, R87 W; Portions of Sections 27, 34, 35 and 36 <br />TSN, R86 W; Portions of Sections 6 and 7. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Milner and Mount Harris. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete. At the time of <br />publication of this notice, [he applicant is additionally required to place a copy of this application at the Hayden Public Library, <br />225 E. Jefferson Avenue, Hayden, Colorado 81639, and at the Division office. For additional information or to provide written <br />comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203, <br />(303) 866-3567. In order for us to comply with regulatory time frames, we request that comments be submitted within fifteen <br />(15) days of this letter.
