'FROM : GREG-LEWICKI FAX N0. 30334651% Jan. 13 20143 04:17PM P2 <br />Noxious and Restricted Weeds <br />In the Apex Mine reclaimed vegetation area, restricted and/or noxious weeds <br />accounted for 0.7 percent cover in 2001 and 0.31 percent in 2002. Listed below are <br />species observed that were scattered randomly througheut the reclaimed vegetation <br />areas. The species encountered were: <br />Cirsium arvense <br />Cardaria Spp <br />Standard Comparison to Bond Release Area <br />Live Perenn al Cover <br />2001 -Apex Mine reclaimed land has a live non-restricted and non-noxious perennial <br />vegetative cover of 47.3 percent. The standard is 42 percent. Apex Mine reclaimed land <br />exceeds the standard for the test year 2001. <br />2002 -Apex Mine reclaimed land has a live non-restricted and non-noxious perennial <br />vegetative cover of 50.3 percent. The standard is 42 percent. Apex Mine reclaimed land <br />exceeds the standard for the test year 2002. <br />Apex Mine reclaimed land exceeds the standard for 2001 and 2002. Therefore, Apex <br />Mine reclaimed land has been successfully revegetated. <br />Live Perennial Species piversity <br />2001 -The three dominant plant species in terms of relative importance are mountain <br />brome with 61.3 percent relative importance, orchard grass with 13.1 percent relative <br />importance and Kentucky bluegrass with 12.1 percent relative importance for a total of <br />86.5 percent relative importance when compared with all perennial non-restricted/non- <br />noxious species. Apex Mine reclaimed land meets the revised standards for the species <br />diversity. See Attachment 5. <br />2002 -The three dominant plant species in terms of relative importance are mountain <br />brome with 68.9 percent relative importance, western wheatgrass with 12.3 percent <br />relative importance and Kentucky bluegrass with 7.2 percent relative importance for a <br />total of 88.4 percent relative Importance when compared with all perennial non- <br />restricted/non-noxious species. Under the revised standards, (see Attachment 5), Apex <br />reclaimed land met the standards for species diversity. <br />Page 6 of 25 <br />August 23, 2002 <br />
