The pit will be graded to
retain stormwater on site. As a part of the Company's
environmental management policy all fuel tanks used on site will
be surrounded by a berm. Anon-porous liner will be placed in
the area where fuel tanks are filled to preclude even small
spills from penetrating into the ground. When equipment is
serviced a Tube truck equipped with a used oil storage tank is
used. All used oils are removed from the pit and taken to a
authorized disposal site.
The pit is a sand and gravel source. Processing will be limited
to sand and gravel production. No toxic chemicals will be used
in processing gravel on this site. Gravel stockpiles will be
located so that any run off from stormwater or melting snow will
remain on site as part of the stormwater management. Water held
in stormwater retention areas will leach into the ground .
• Since this pit is located in the unincorporated area of Mesa
County, notification of large spills is made to the County
Sheriff and the Colorado State Highway Patrol.
Mesa County Sheriff Department 303-244-3500
Colorado State Highway Patrol 303-245-7911
In case of emergency 911
•
