<br />Dear Mr. Kline:
<br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, Paragraph
<br />4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on November 24, 1997, an application to revise coal minine operations at the New
<br />Elk Mine was considered complete for the purposes of Filing. The revision was submitted by Picketwire Processing, LLC. All
<br />review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
<br />This revision proposes incorporating additional information into the permit application to address various deficiencies in the
<br />reclamation cost estimate, waste pile, roads, and reclamation plan.
<br />The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 25 miles west of Trinidad, Colorado. The permit area
<br />is Further described as follows:
<br />Township 33 South, Range 67 West, Sections 30 and 31
<br />Township 34 South, Range 67 West, Section 6
<br />Township 33 South, Range 68 West, Sections 13, 14, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28, 34, 35, and 36
<br />Township 34 South, Range 68 West, Sections I and 2
<br />All sections are paztially or fully projected by Basin Resources due to the unsurveyed nature of the Maxwell Land Grant.
<br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Vigil.
<br />A copy of the technical revision application is available for public inspection at the Las Animas County Courthouse, 200 East
<br />First Street, Room 104, Trinidad, CO 81082, and u[ the Division office. For additional information or to provide written
<br />comments, contact the Division of Minerals and Geology, Room 215, 1313 Sherman Street, Denver, Colorado 80203.
