Cattany <br />Division Director <br />Natural Resource Trustee <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on December 10, 2004, an application to revise coal mining <br />operations at the Seneca II-W Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted <br />by Seneca Coal Company. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from <br />this date of filing. <br />This revision application proposes updates and modifications to various sections of the approved permit application, <br />including changes to certain provisions of the operations and reclamation plan. The revision application was <br />submitted in response to the Division's mid-term permit review. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 9 miles south of Hayden. The permit area is <br />further described as follows: <br />TSN, R88W; All of Section I5; Portions of Sections 9, 10, 11, 14, 16, 21, 22, 23, 26, 27, 34, and 35 <br />T6N, R88W; Portions of Sections 14, 23 and 24 <br />T6N, R87W; Portions of Sections 17, 18, 19 <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Hayden Gulch, Hayden, <br />Dunckley and Mt. Hams. <br />We are requesting your agency's evaluation of the proposal, because the approved postmining land use is <br />rangeland/wildlife habitat, and specific amendments to approved standards of regegetation success, including woody <br />plant density stocking levels and planting arrangements are proposed. Pertinent sections of the technical revision <br />application are enclosed. We would direct your attention to Items 32, and 35 through 44, of the revision cover letter, <br />and amended text pages in revison Tabs 22 and 23. Please advise us if you require additional information. <br />The applicant is required to publish notice in a local newspaper that this application has been deemed complete.
