PERMIT NO. C-81-018.
DESERADO MINE.
Dear Mr. Mathews:
This application is for a minor revision to drill an additional nine (9) vent holes over the remaining
part of longwall panel #11 (LW11-5, LW11-6 and LW11-7) and overall of longwall panel #12
(LW12-1 to LW12-6). Map 138 has been revised and submitted herewith to show the drilling
locations.
The proposed drilling locations will be prepared by removing and stockpiling topsoil and
vegetation to be used in reclamation. Pits will be cut in undisturbed (non-fill) ground to contain
cuttings and fluids used while drilling. Once the holes are not required, each of the holes will be
plugged as specified in the permit. A surface cement plug will be installed from surface to 10 feet
and a surface marker set. All pits will be pumped out and backfilled and the site recontoured as
soon as practical. The drill hole sites will be disked and seeded with 20 Ib/acre of seed mixture
as shown in Table V-14 of the permit. Runoff from the drill sites will be controlled as per the
permit document language.
The hole depth will vary trom about 225 feet to about 470 feet and the average hole depth is
about 370 feet. It will be constructed by drilling 12-1/4" hole to 40', hanging and cementing 40'
of 9-5/8" casing, drilling from 40 feet to the total depth with 8-5/8" bit and hanging 6" schedule
40 PVC perforated well casing to the bottom of the hole.
PO Box 33424
Denver, ~ 803-3424
Telephone 303/450-9976
Fax 303/450-104?
E-mail w(alxkewoodepcisys.net
