.: '-

13. An article on the importance of big sagebrush for a small mammal
Townsend ground squirrel. There are other small mammals as well.
14, 15, 16. A series of reports (1957, 1973, 1981) showing the heavy
use of big sagebrush by mule deer.
17. A summary report (1984) on the use of big sagebrush by
pronghorns.
Well I could go on with 50 to 70 more articles stating about the same
thing concerning the value of big sagebrush. These articles cover the
past five decades, at least six western states (Utah, Nevada, Idaho,
Colorado, Wyoming, and Oregon), and by 26 authors. They all say big
sagebrush is a valuable forage plant plus a cover and nesting plant.
The bottom line is if you like wildlife then you like big sagebrush.
If you like beef animals then you hate big sagebrush.
I do not know what else to say.
If I can be of further help please, let me know.
Best wishes,
~?/Lu.~.
Bruce L. Welch
Principal Research Plant Physiologist
1-801-377-5717
