March 2000 -7- 993-2099.150
data used as part of these designs, which have been approved by the MLRB and OMLR,
have been included as part of the Phase IV design.
Base topography for the Phase IV area was based on digital contour maps of the area with
a five-foot contour interval, and is shown in Drawing No. 2. Surveying and development
of the digital topography was performed by Western States Surveying, Inc. (WSSI). The
design features, consistent with that submitted previously as part of the existing VLF
design, have been selected and developed through the integration of state-of--the-art
methods, design criteria, and site-specific conditions to minimize the potential for releases
to the environment.
1.3 Design Criteria
Golder completed the engineering design for Phase IV using the following design criteria:
Valley Leach Facility
- Maximum Ore Depth
- Nominal Ore Angle of Repose Slope
- Overall Operational Ore Sideslope (along
north and east sides of valley leach facility)
- Operational Ore Sideslope
(all areas, except upgradient of Phase II
Toe Berm)
- Lift Height
i
590 feet
1.3H:1V
1.6H:1V
2.SH:1V (to elevation
9,620)
2H:1V (above elevation
9,620)
Varies (150 feet max.)
1:199\2099\FINAL REPORN099MAIN3.DOC Golder Associates
