Long <br /> Drv~s~on Director <br />Re: Colowyo Coal Mine (Permit No. C-81-019) <br />Technical Revision Application No. 47 (TR-47) <br />Reduction in the Frequency of Monitoring Revege[a[ed Areas <br />Dear Ms. NaIL <br />The Division of Minerals and Geology (Division) hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 116, <br />Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 22, 1999, an application to revise coal mining operations at the <br />Colowyo Coal Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. The revision was submitted by Colowyo Coal <br />Company L.P. All review and comment periods as provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing. <br />This technical revision provides for a reduction in the monitoring of revegetated ores from the 1st, 2nd, and every 3rd year <br />thereafter after seeding until bond release inspectionsto the I st, 3nd, and 4th year after seeding until bond release inspections. <br />The surface coal mining operation is on land located approximately 28 miles south of Craig. The permit area is further <br />described as follows: <br />All or portions of Sections 2, 3, 4, E, 9, l0, I I, 14, I5, 16, 17, 20, 21 and T3N, R93 W; and Sections 13, 15, 22, 23, 24, 26, 27, <br />28, 33 and 34, i4N, R93 W; 6th Prime Met idian. <br />The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle maps of Axial & Ninemile Gap. <br />AcopyofthetechnicalrevisionapplicationisavailableforpublicinspectIonattheMoffatCountyCourthouse,221 WVictory <br />Way, Craig, CO 81625, and at the Division office.
