According to your notice, Gravel, LLC is <br />requesting an amendmem to their existing permit to increase their boundary by 133 acres, which <br />will result in a total permitted area of 224.2 acres. The proposed site is near the Florida River in <br />Section 30, Township 34, Range 8, La Plata County, Colorado. <br />In accordance with Section 404 of the Clean Water Act, a Department of the Army <br />permit is required for any discharge of dredged,or.fill material into a waters of the US, including <br />wetlands. The Florida River is located in the middle of the pit boundary. In addition, hillside <br />seeps aze typical chazacteristics of the Florida River Basin within the region of the project area. <br />The applicant should hire a professional wetland. scientist to assess the subject property for the <br />presence of wetlands or other waters of the US. The Corps ofEngineers must verify the wetland <br />assessment prior to the commencement of work. We understand a wetland delineation was <br />performed during the spring of 2006, however, this delineation was never submitted to this office <br />for verification.
