EXHIBIT J -VEGETATION INFORMATION
The information in this section is provided by Wright Water Engineers.
Vegetation
The parcel is a relatively flat abandoned agricultural field that was irrigated in the past. Most of the
site is dominated by upland weeds, including kochia (Kochia scoporia), Russian thistle (Salsola
a[istrafis), curly gum weed (Grindelia syuarrosa), common dandelion (Toraxic[un ojficinale), thistle
(Circii~m spp), cheat grass (Bromt~s tec[on~m), and wheatgrass (Pascopyrum spp). Several old
cottonwood trees (Pop:iG~s deltoides) are located in the northeastern and southwestern corners of the
site. As described in the following section, there are three small wetlands on the site associated with
the Swale that traverses the property.
Wetlands
Wright Water Engineers, Inc. delineated the wetlands on the parcel following U.S. Army Corps of
Engineers' criteria. There are three, small wetlands on the parcel associated with the small Swale
that traverses the site (Existing Conditions Map). Dominant vegetation in the wetlands includes
smartweed (Persicaria coccinea), beaked sedge (Cares rostra[o), Curley dock (Rumex crispus), and
foxtail barley (Hordeum jubal:~m). Water is supplied to the wetlands from seasonally high
groundwater and occasional flow in the Swale. The Swale is part of an old side channel that was
reportedly cut by floods in the 1960's. The Swale on the subject pazcel has been straightened and
lacks characteristics of channel bed.
Water Rights
There are reportedly no water rights associated with the Swale that traverses the site. No water rights
were conveyed with the sale of the 40-acre parcel. According to long-term residents, the 40-acre
pazcel was irrigated years ago but has not been irrigated recently. The residents did not know what,
if any, water rights were used for past irrigation.
AMENDMENT TO BASELINE PERMIT # M-1997-058 Page -23-
