EXHIBIT H -WILDLIFE INFORMATION
The following wildlife information is provided by Wright Water Engineers.
Wildlife that may potentially occur on [his property are limited because the property is fenced on all
sides and is adjacent to a road to the west, mining operations to the east and grazing and residential
properties to the north and south. It is an abandoned farm field with weedy upland plants and an
abandoned prairie dog town.
Mammals that would typically occur on this site include cottontail (Sy/vilagers spp. ), 13-lined ground
squirrel (Spermophi/zrs tridecemlirreaters), kangaroo rat (Dipodomys ordii) and a variety of mice
including deer mice (Peromyscers manicerlatus) and harvest mice (Reitlrrodontomys montanrrs).
Black-tailed prairie dogs (Cynorn}~s lerdoviciamrs) were historically located on this property.
However, the prairie dog town has been abandoned. Birds that might frequent this property include
western meadowlark (St:rrnella neglecta), black-billed magpie (Pica pica) and potentially the
burrowing owl (Athene cunicerlurio). A variety of sparrows, including the cassin's sparrow
(Aimophila cassinii) and the lark sparrow (Chondestes gramrnacrrs) might frequent the location.
Reptiles and amphibians might include the western rattlesnake (Crotolus viridis) and the plains
garter snake (Thamnophis radix). No threatened or endangered species would be expected to use
this site, as verified by the Colorado Division of Wildlife and Colorado Natural Heritage Program.
Hall-Irwin will remove the vacant prairie dog colonies during the winter months to ensure no
burrowing owls are present.
AMENDMENT TO BASELINE PERMIT # M-1997-058 Page -19-
