The Division of Minerals and Geology hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33,
Section 116, Paragraph 4, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 13, 1997, an application to
revise coal mining operations at the Foidel Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of
filing. The revision was submitted by Twentymile Coal Co. All review and corttment periods as
provided in the Act and the Regulations initiate from this date of filing.
This Revision proposes to reduce the length of the lonwall panels from 16,000 ft to 10,000 ft. The SW
gateroad connecting 7R and 2R gate roads has been reconfigured and production rate will be increased
to ]0,000 'I'/yr. No new surface disturbances are projected.
The underground coal mining operation is on land located approximately 23 miles southwest of
Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows:
The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map of Rattlesnake
Butte.
Because the above referenced technical revision application may alter previously approved permit
conditions or mitigation measures, we are requesting your agency's evaluation of [he potential for
impacts to threatened or endangered species of plants or anin3als, or wildlife species otherwise
protected by federal law.
