All reviews and comment periods as provided in the <br />Act and Regulations promulgated thereunder initiate from this day of filing. <br />The applicant proposes to revise surface coal mining operations at the <br />Colorado Coal Mine No. 1. <br />Through TR-13, the applicant proposes to change the species diversity criteria <br />for revegetation at the mine site. The existing permit reugires that 2 cool <br />season grass species, 2 warm season grass species, 2 forb species and 2 shrub <br />species, each comprising 3% relative cover, be established. The applicant <br />proposes to reduce the diversity requirement to 2 cool season grass species, <br />and 2 forb species, .each comprising 3% relative cover. The ,applicant has <br />stated that the change is requested because the existing permit requirements <br />for regetation do not reflect the conditions of the original vegetation of the <br />areas, the conditions found in the reference plot, or the best interests of <br />post mining land use. <br />The mine site is located in Huerfano County, appeoximately one mile north of <br />Walsenburg. The permit area includes the portion of Section 25, T275, R67W, <br />6th P.M., that lies west of Colorado State Highway 69. These lands may be <br />found on the USGS 7.5 minute quadrangle titled Walsenburg North. <br />• <br />STATE OF COLORADO <br />
