scribed above for the existing lease. This area is 2.9 acres and will be stripped to an average depth of
12 inches since part of this area is Soil Type 11 which is only strippable to a depth of 4-6". There-
fore, the total volume from Strip 1 is 4695 cubic yards. Therefore, Stockpile C will contain 4695 +
2097 = 6792 cubic yards. Overburden is approximately 8 feet thick in Strip 1 and this material will
be placed in two places: 1) the original Berry pit to achieve final grade and 2) the fill area of 1 acre
west of Strip 1. Once the overburden is placed here, the topsoil temporarily stockpiled for the 1 acre
will be replaced on top (672 cubic yards) and this area will become part of the visual berm that will
be built to shield the operation from areas to the west and south of the pit.
The existing bench that exists along the south perimeter of the disturbed area already has a berm of
approximately 2-3 feet height, which was made of topsoil by a long ago highway construction opera-
tion. This topsoil berm will be expanded to a height of approximately 5-8 feet based on the amount
of topsoil still available from the bench area. The berm sideslopes will be 2:OH:1.OV. This berm will
serve as visual protection for the Highway below as well as a water barrier to prevent site runoff
from leaving the site. During final reclamation, the soil from the berm will be respread in the imme-
diate area for reclamation. All berms and topsoil stockpiles will be seeded and mulched according to
the recommendations of the local NRCS immediately after creation.
See Map I/J in Appendix B for the outlines of all soil areas based on the SCS survey conducted years
ago. All stockpile areas will have slopes no steeper than 2.SH:1V and will be seeded within 60 days
after they are created.
6. Water Information. Rights and Augmentation
All water rights issues such as availability of water for this operation, consumption rates, dust con-
trol, etc. is presented in Exhibit G -Water Information.
7. Schedule of Operations
Mining operations will only occur as dictated by demand up to the maximum rates described earlier
in the mine plan. Mining may occur in winter months if demand exists. The operator does not antici-
pate night gravel mining operations, although minor truck activity or repairs may occur afrer hours.
• Berry Pit 3/02 12
