J. Dillie
July 10, 1995
Page 2
D. Spigot Distances. A letter discussing spigot distances will be sent in the near future.
E. Release of old office site. We wilt be submitting a modification to change the post
mining land use and release the old office site from the permit area in the near future. We
concur with your understanding of how this issue will be handled in the permit modification
process. However, we are concerned wilt your request for water samples from the on.site wells.
Approved TR-003 acknowledged that the site had been properly detoxified and that the Division
allowed BMRI to remove all heap leach material and backfill the ponds. Therefore, TR-003
released BMRI from all responsibilities of cyanide use at the old office site. In addition, we
have no baseline data on these wells and they have not been sampled for at least 6 years. Before
agreeing to sampling, BMRI needs to understand the need Yor sampling, the use of th@ sampie
data, what standards will be applied, and how these standards will be applied without baseline
data.
F. Magnesium Chloride CV-I. Based on your letter the Magnesium Chloride situation
has been resolved.
We hope that this provides additional clarification of all matters of concern th a timeframe for a
resolution. Please contact me with any questions.
Sall}lJdayes
Enviromnental
cc: Anne Baldrige
Dan Kobertson
