Hard Rock Paving and Redi-Nlix
Buena Vista Pit Conversion Application List of Issues
The gravel pi[ is zoned rural residential with a grand father variance. The property is
surrounded by residential property. (the proposed final land use is Industrial/Commercial)
2. The gravel pit has not been in operation for two years and only operated a few days at a time
for years before that.
The average depths of water wells are 90 to 100 feet and we feel that a deep pit would harm
our water source as well as the possibility of contamination from a gasohe~cdiesel spill.
4. Dust, dirt and fumes from the operation of this pit would be very detrimental to the health of
elderly people living within one block of the property. They cannot afford to move away.
5. We feel the best and highest use of this land (mine site) would be for residential.
/ ~ Hard Rock Paving and Redi-Mix. Inc. has stated that the property is zoned industrial. This is
l/ wrong they are zoned rural residential with a grand father in special permit. We are
protesting the application by hard Rock to have their quarry pit area re-zoned to construct and
operate an asphalt and concrete processing plant.
Increased heavy equipment traffic and safety hazard
~$~ Increased noise pollution
9. Air pollution
L~ Potential for groundwater contamination
11. Nowhere in their request for conversion to #112 status do they mention that this site will be
used to construct and operate an asphalt and concrete processing plant
12. Hard Rock will not allow anyone to walk on the property
13. The gravel pit is the only industry disturbing the general peace here
14. If the property is under mining occupation the only river access available to hikers or
fisherman in the area is miles away
IS. If you choose to allow the company to continue gravel pit operations, please restrict them
from conducting any other type of industry ~~
16. We are strongly opposed to a sand, gravel and quarry operation ithin~ 190, plus or minus,
feet of our residence ~~'~
17. An unsightly excavation adjacent to our residence is completely unthinkable
hl:bss\pmmNemp\sn]]-1961ssues.ldo Joc
