5.10 Comparisons of Water Quality
SEDCAD+ demonstration results are presented in Table 5.10-1.
Table 5.10-1 Summary of SEDCAD+ Demonstrations
Parameter Pre-Mining Reclaimed
Rangeland Permit Description 1996 Vegetation
Reference Survey
Peak Sediment 411' 2022= 665'
Concentration
(SCp) (mg/l)
SEDCAD+ Demonstration File name:
Appendix G
SEDCAD+ Demonstration File name:
Appendix H
SEDCAD+ Demonstration File name:
Appendix I
C:\SEDCAD3\CR\EPP, 09-11-1996, 15:53:48,
C:\SEDCAD3\CR\EPP2, 10-04-1996, 15:31:58,
C:\SEDCAD3\CR\EPR, 09-11-1996, li:47:07,
Due to the extremely dry year experienced in 1996, vegetative cover on both the dryland
reclaimed and reference areas was lower than previous year's sampling data. Rock content
observed on the reference area contributed significantly to overall cover versus the rock
content observed in the reclaimed area soils. While vegetative cover was better on the
reclaimed areas than on the reference area, rock content make the use of reference area
comparisons invalid. Use of pre-mining data indicates that post mining runoff would be less
than the pre-mining conditions.
6. EAST SLOPE AREA
6.1 Area
The East Slope Area is the major contributor of runoff towards Sedimentation Pond 003.
It is bound on the north by the North Flat area (Ditch 3N2), on the east by Ditches
3Na,b,and c; and 3Sa and b. That portion of the East Pit Area chat drains towards
Sedimentation Pond 003 (south-east sector) is included in this demonstration (bound on the
south east by Ditches 3Sc and d, and on the west by the drainage divide. The west boundary
is defined by the drainage divide with the East Pit Area. Total acreage considered is 16.66
acres.
Page 20 of 3~3. 7 Oct 96
