Ccn'er
' Percent total vegetative cover for each area was the mean of the total number of transects.
Production was determined by hand clipping 0.50 square meter quadrants. A random number
' between one and fifty was selected to determine where the sampling point would be placed along
the fifty meter transect. The vegetation was clipped by forb or grass species and separated by
annual or perennial life form, with the corresponding field "wet" weight recorded. The clipped
vegetation was then air dried for eight weeks and reweighed as a field "dry" weight. The dry
weights were converted to pounds per acre for each respective sampled area. The Snedecor-
Cochran sample adequacy formula (Equation 2) was utilized to determine the adequate number of
' quadrants were sampled within each site.
' VEGETATION RESULTS
Data collected from vegetation transects for the West Slope 1984 and 1991, Topsoil Stockpile, Top
' Slope, South Slope, North Flat, East Slope, Barren Ridge, Revision 1, Dryland Reference Area,
Alluvial Valley Floor 1990 and 1991, and Alluvial Valley Floor Reference Area are presented in
Tables 1 through 13. Results of the survey indicated that all reclaimed areas comprise vegetative
' cover above that exceeded 90 percent of the cover of the representative reference area. These
results are consistent with the CDMG Phase II bond release guidelines which state "vegetation
establishment will be considered acceptable if the cover of the revegetated area is at least 90
' percent of the cover from the reference area or other standard with 90 percent statistical
confidence (Rule 4.15.8)".
' arrr+os~~ni„rn ia. revr A-3
