E. Monks Construction Company; Airport Pit #3; MLRD Permit
#M-87-131
Dear Mr. Humphries:
This letter serves as our request to amend the existing mining
permit for the R. E. Monks Airport Pit #3 mining area. This
amendment is based on one specific modification; namely the
inclusion of a 20 acre tract in the center of the southern portion
that was previously the property of Julia McGuire. This property
is surrounded by the mining permit and will now be included in the
permit area and planned mine.
Since this additional area was previously disturbed and is removed
from the area currently being mined, there will be an increase in
total disturbed area for the new permit area. R. E. Monks
Construction will obtain additional bonding to cover the
reclamation costs for this area.
All exhibits and the details of the amendment are as follows:
... Exhibit A - The 20 acre McGuire tract has been included in the
property description and the overall acreage will be increased
to 370 acres.
... Exhibit B - This exhibit will not change as the 20 acre
McGuire property is inside the previous permit limits.
... Exhibit C - The mining plan map will also reflect the former
20 acre McGuire property noted as excluded, now to be noted as
"Included by Amendment". The McGuire property will be
included within the proposed mining Phases 5 and 7 on the
Exhibit C - Mining Plan.
... Exhibit D - The general site mining approach will not be
revised. Since the 20 acre McGuire tract is surrounded by
property leased by Monks, the relative depths and qualities of
topsoil, overburden, and resource are anticipated to be very
similar to adjacent, previously permitted Monks mining lands.
11990 Grant Street, #910 Telephone: (303) 452-6611
Denver, Colorado 80233 Facsimile: (303) 452-2759
