Catlany
Division Director
Natural Resourm Trustee
The Division has reviewed the weed management plan submitted as technical revision 17
to the permit application package (PAP), and several comments are relevant to the
submittal.
For the most part, the proposal complies with revised Rule 4.15.1(5), by inclusion of a
weed management plan into the PAP. There are two items that should be included in the
plan.
(1) Appendix P contains a list of noxious weeds of concern. The Division
requests that Eastside Coal Company include on that list all the species of concern
that appear on the Garfield County noxious weed list. A copy of that county list
is attached to this letter and also can be found on the Garfield County website.
(2) Because species listings by state and county are updated periodically as
species of concern are added or removed, the Division requests that Eastside Coal
Company include wording in the plan to the effect that the weed management
plan will be accomplished in accordance with the Colorado Weed Management
Act [CRS35-5.5-115] and the Garfield County Vegetation Management
Department directives.
If you have any questions, please feel free to call me.
Sincerely,
Jim Burnell
Environmental Protection Specialist
Encl: noxious weed list
Office of Office of Colorado
Mined Land Reclamation Active and Inattive Mines ~ Geological Survey
