Soil Identification Soil Descripfion <br />72 Wann Sandy This deep, somewhat pooly drained, neazly level to gently sloping, <br />Loam low lying soil is on terraces and bottom land in valleys. Elevation <br />ranges from 5,00 to 6,500 feet. The soil formed in alluvium derived <br />primarily from sandstone and shale. The average annual precipitation <br />is about 12 inches, the average annual air temperature is about 48 <br />degrees F, and the average frost-free period is about 120 days. <br />Typically, the upper part of the surface layer is dazk grayish brown <br />sandy loam about 8 inches thick, and the lower part is dark grayish <br />brown fine sandy loam about 4 inches thick. The upper part of the <br />underlyting material is mottled, light brownish gray fine sandy loam <br />and sandy loam about 24 inches thick, and the lower part is mottled <br />light brownish gray coazse sandy loam to a depth of 60 inches. <br />40 Kim Loam This deep well drained, gently sloping soil is on alluvial fans and <br />benches. Elevation ranges from 5,000 to 6,000 feet. This soil formed <br />in alluvium derived from shale an sandstone. The average annual <br />precipitation is about 12 inches, the average annual ait temperature is <br />about 46 degrees F, and the average frost-free period is about 125 <br />days. <br />Typically, the surface layer is yellowish brown or light yellowish <br />brown loam about 17 inches thich. The underlying material is light <br />brownish gray loam to a depth of 60 inches. In places the underlying <br />material is stratified with fine sandy loam. <br />4126/04 Page t-2 <br />
