TRAPPER MINING INC.
SAND AND GRAVEL SITE
• Exhibit J Contd. - Page 2
2.0 Cottonwood Tree Inventory
An inventory of the number and growth status of cottonwood trees on the NW
boundary of the permit area was conducted and the results are as follows:
(See Exhibit C map for location.)
Live mature cottonwoods - 131
Dead cottonwoods - 8
Sapling cottonwoods - 562
3.0 Livestock Carrying Capacity
At the present time, 52 head of cattle (cows, calves and bulls) are uti-
lizing the available forage resource. As mentioned, Kentucky bluegrass
and western wheatgrass make up the majority of the plant production in the
permit area and are highly preferred plants by cattle. Therefore, our
estimate for palatibility of the available range resource is 95% or 2,143
kg/ha (1,948 lbs/ac) of the annual plant production. With proper use of
the range resource (take 1/2, leave 1/2) the useable vegetation for cattle
is approximately 1,072 kg/ha (974 Lbs/ac). The available animal unit
months by season for the useable 94.9 acre area would be approximately 77
• (Table 4). The present grazing system allows for a surplus of six AUM's
over the 45 day use period. ,
• JMM/jb
8/30/85
