Exhibit G - Water Information
•
1.0 Water
All applicable Colorado and federal water laws will be upheld. NPDES
monitoring for the site will be conducted as stated in the NPDES permit.
It is anticipated NPDES standards can be me[ without a settling pond.
However, if this in not the case, then a settling pond will be con-
structed. The gravel pit will be constructed in alluvial material from
the Yampa River. As a consequence, ground water from the river will be
continually moving in and out of [he pi[. This intermediate contairenent
of water will have a negligible effect on the quantity of water in the
Yampa River. In fact, waters contained te~sporarily in [he pit are consid-
ered to be a nuisance and hinderance to the mining and reclamation
process.
However, some use of water will occur due to fugitive dust control activi-
ties required by the Colorado Department of Health fugitive dust emission
permits. Trapper Mining Inc. holds sufficient water rights to cover these
activities. In addition, Trapper Mining Inc. has filed an application
with the Division of Water Resources, State Engineer, for a well permit.
A well permit is required by the Office of the State Engineer for open
pits which are a source of waters [o be put [o beneficial use. No other
beneficial use of waters is anticipated during the mining and reclamation
process.
• Total consumptive use will be for fugitive dust control for haul roads,
yard area, and product handling. Table G-1 documents the approximate num-
ber of acre-feet of water needed annually for the above losses. According
to available data a total of .66 acre-feet of water will be consumed
annually,
JMM/jb
• 9/18/85
