BANTA, Dlreetor
June 5, 1989
Mr. tdark A. Heifner
37 E. Colorado Avenue
Denver, Colorado 80210
RE: Adequacy Items
Castle Concrete Company
Snyder Quarry Amendment
MLRD Permit No. M-77-210, AM-03
Dear Mr. Heifner:
Please find enclosed our review of your responses to our adequacy letter of
~1ay 15, 1989. You will note that there are still a few items unresolved.
Mining Plan
Item 1: You state that "this amendment simply inserts an additional phase
into the overall phasing of the operation." However, from recent telephone
conversations with you, there is apparently a portion of the acreage approved
for non-excavation in the 1984 amendment that will be excavated per this 1989
amendment. Please identify this acreage on your revised mining plan and
reclamation plan maps. Please state the amount of acres that are being
proposed for conversion from non-excavation to excavation use.
Item 2: No additional response is necessary. Thank you.
Item 3: No additional response is necessary. Thank you.
Item 4: No additional response is necessary. Thank you.
Item 5: You state: "...if the total depth of mining is greater than the
final wall height, several benches must be worked at a time in order to
satisfy safety requirements." What is this maximum wall height that once
exceeded will necessitate additional benches?
Item 6: In your response, you state "under the revised plan, where the
horseshoe-shaped 2.4 acres have been removed..., it is unlikely that a north
crossing would ever be needed; however, we wish to keep that in the plan
because it is possible that equipment access to the north end of the mining
area might still be needed...." How much of this newly-removed acreage will
remain completely undisturbed as part of the activity at the mine? Even
though it will not be excavated, will any of this revised area be used as
access roads, drilling pads, refuse areas, etc.?
215 Centennial Building, 1313 Sherman Street Denver, Colorado 80203.2273 Tel.
